Crab apple ‘Scarlett’
£55 – £125
This crab apple tree produces a bright and beautiful display of prolific amounts of lightly scented, deep pink flowers in spring. But the colour doesn’t stop there; glossy purple foliage then emerges, transitioning to green over the summer months and changing to red, orange and yellow in autumn before the leaves fall. The small fruits produced by this tree are purple, red in colour and last well in to the autumn and winter after leaf fall. This tree is larger than the ‘Golden Glory’ variety.
This plant is known for being extremely hardy. As climate change causes extreme temperature fluctuations, rest assured that this plant can survive temperatures as low as -15 celsius. It’s also a pollinating plant so once it begins to flower, it’ll provide food for pollinators, such as bees and butterflies.
Please note, our trees have now dropped their leaves for winter. The plants are still very healthy and will burst into life again come spring. Over winter, you can enjoy the structural beauty of their bare branches.
